Awards and Fellowships
Mortar Board Fellowships
Since Mortar Board’s fellowship program began in 1941, more than $1.5 million has been given to deserving members pursuing postgraduate degrees. Fellowships are awarded annually for one academic year. The program started with two awards of $500 and now includes several awards between $3,000 and $5,000 each.
The Excellence in Advising Awards are given to advisors who have gone above and beyond in their work with a collegiate chapter.
Mortar Board awards alumni that demonstrate a continuing commitment to Mortar Board’s purpose and exemplify the Society’s Ideals.
The five collegiate awards honor chapters for the excellence they exhibit throughout the year and their dedication to Mortar Board’s Ideals.
The Starlington Prize is awarded each year to nominees who have proven that they understand the purpose of Mortar Board, are dedicated to their chapter and have internalized the true obligation of membership.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B) Awards recognize outstanding efforts/successes by chapters on projects and initiatives that focus on the tenets of diversity, equity, inclusion, and Belonging. A chapter may apply or be nominated by their Section Coordinator.
